Set up your model-building bench
A clear surface and a few task-specific tools make small parts easier to manage.
Keep parts contained
Use the wells of a parts tray to separate the pieces needed for each assembly stage.
Handle small pieces gently
Use tweezers with light pressure. Check delicate edges and painted finishes before gripping.
Prepare the surface
Work progressively through suitable abrasives. Test on a spare piece and remove dust before finishing.
Check before assembly
Read the model instructions and measure the part before making an irreversible cut or joining it.
